From a player's perspective after competing at both Quakecon and Dreamhack Denver, ignoring your results as a factor, which event did you enjoy more to compete at and why?
I think of them as equal. Both had a lot of learning experiences and both caused me to continue improving as a player and a person.
From finishing last in your Quakecon group to then placing 4th overall in the Dreamhack Denver tournament, what adjustments and improvements did you make to your game to reach such a quick turnaround in success?
Well we can't ignore the fact that Lightning Gun and Sorlag were definitely more potent at Quakecon. However, I feel like my win against strenx at Quakecon showed that my problem was largely in my head and not in my ability to compete in that meta. I felt as though my skills were definitely good enough to get me out of groups, but I lacked LAN experience and it bit me in the butt. My practice routines didn't change following Quakecon.
It was announced in late September that you would playing for Myztro Gaming joining the likes of RAISY and GaRpY. What does this opportunity mean to you and how has this impacted you since joining?
I will forever be grateful to Myztro for giving me the opportunity to do what I love professionally. Being a part of an organization with GaRpY, HELL, phaze, and RAISY is a special experience. A group of excellent players and even better human beings. The Myztro staff is of equal calibre to the players. I am very fortunate to be a part of this organization.
For spectators and non-competing players who haven't been through the practice grind before, what does your training regime look like approaching the final couple of weeks of an event? Also do you prefer to play a wider range of opponents or just a few practice partners?
My training regime doesn't change based on an event being close or not. I stick with my process every day. Every day is an opportunity to improve. To answer your second question, depending on the day I will play whoever is available. Some days that is queuing up and seeing a wide variety. Some days that is sets with just a few players. It all depends.
